Le Reve
The long-awaited dream of director Franco Dragone's has come to fruition with Le Reve at Wynn. Under his colorful direction, this show is designed to be a walk through one central characters dreams. A times, the show is a dark and menacing spectacle, and at others, a gripping manifestation of pure positive emotion.
The Wynn Theater is styled in-the-round, with no seat more than 42 feet from the watery stage. Because of this, the audience is pulled into the production and completely immersed in Dragone's world. Nearly 175 technicians and other staff are needed to support the 68 performers in the show. The stage of the show is actually a pool, filled with 1 million gallons of water and is 27 feet deep in the middle.
The show does not merely dazzle with its technological marvel of a stage - that can transform from a completely submerged pool to a multi-platform tower. The show also does not rely on the awe factor of characters diving into the water from towering heights. Le Reve delivers very real human drama, such as when the "everyman" character falls in love with one of the beautiful Sarah, only to lose her in the water. Where else would he loose her in an aquatic based show? His loss and search is brief, but you cannot help but feel for him. There's are number of heart-pounding moments like this, as well as whimsical, moments of humor, usually provided by the clowning angels, who poke fun at the serious situations and misfortunes of the performers, while at the same time experiencing their own aquatic misadventures. 'From purifying rain showers and delicate, haunting snowfalls to battles in the sky and sultry underwater choreography, Le Reve's dreams will touch every corner of your soul. But be careful - you may never want to return to the waking world again.'
